Yamaha Designs Digital Sound Projector to Work With Flat TVs

This year, Yamaha Corp. aims to expand the sales of its home theater-related products, including audio-video (A/V) amplifiers, projectors and surround systems. At the center of Yamaha's campaign is the YSP-1 digital sound projector designed for use with flat TVs. The company released the digital sound projector as it expands its reach to various home theater markets around the world. According to Sadatoshi Ando, General Manager of the Marketing Division at Yamaha's AV & IT Business Group, in the home theater market, price cuts of DVD-combination products with 5.1-channel capability have become evident since mid-2004. Yamaha's FY2004 sales in terms of volume fell 8 percent from FY2003 figures and tumbled 17 percent in terms of value.
