A flurry of digital products is what the U.S. consumer electronics market can expect from the next couple of years. With the country's Federal Communications Commission (FCC) setting up guidelines for the switch to digital TV programming by the end of 2006, digital products particularly high-definition TVs (HDTVs), will become more widespread. According to the estimates released by the U.S. Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), the total shipments of digital TVs in 2005 are expected to increase threefold to 20 million units from last year's 7.3 million.
