This growing market stems from a strong demand for such products as digital cameras, which use such batteries. Digital cameras now represent the second largest market for prismatic rechargeable batteries after mobile phones. Demand for prismatic lithium ion rechargeable batteries has increased rapidly over the past several years. The industry presumes that 70 to 80 percent of this increase arises from demand for lithium ion batteries used in mobile phones.
