Anticipating growing demand for plasma display panels (PDPs), Pioneer Corp.is expanding its PDP production system, which includes all processes from panel fabrication to final TV assembly. Pioneer Display Products Corp. (DPC), a subsidiary of Pioneer, produces PDP panels at plants in Kofu and Shizuoka, Japan. The company has four production lines. The fourth line, added at Kofu, started operating in the fall of 2004. DPC's production system now has a capacity to make 600,000 PDPs annually. In addition, Pioneer has acquired NEC Corp.'s PDP manufacturing operations and established Pioneer Plasma Display Corp. (PPD) on October 1, 2004. PPD's Kagoshima plant has begun production.
