Trends Favor Analog Resistive- Film Touch Panels

Today's resistive film touch panels employ either digital or analog systems. While the first resistive film touch panels used the digital system, present trends favor analog resistive film touch panels and most resistive film touch panels now employ the analog resistive film system. Thus, while electronics products in general are undergoing a shift from analog to digital technologies, the opposite is happening with resistive film touch panels, where the trend is moving from digital to analog systems. Digital touch panels are transparent switches using a simple finger-input matrix system. Analog touch panels are often favored because they accommodate input at any place on the screen using either a finger or a pen. This system for detecting a touch point on the input coordinates is analog. However, subsequent circuit processing is digital.
