Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. (Panasonic) aims to secure a 10 percent share of the worldwide digital camera market in FY2006. Toward this goal, Panasonic has been steadily increasing its share in the European market. Aiming to heighten the recognition of its Lumix brand, the company has positioned the DMC-L1 digital single-lens reflex (SLR) camera, which Panasonic brought out in Europe on September 15, as its flagship digital camera. Panasonic will build up the brand through promotions in specialty photography shops as well as in high-volume camera stores.
