Mobile, Large-Screen TVs Spur OLEDs to Improve

Organic light-emitting displays (OLED) are self-emissive, and there are high expectations for this technology for various applications. OLED consists of luminous devices that raise various issues such as brightness decay, brought about by degradation. There has been rapid progress in these matters, however, over the last two years. Today, there are better prospects for the expansion of OLED technology in the mobile device field. Large-screen TV prototypes also have been developed using this technology, and there is great promise for its future application in this area. This article discusses the principles of OLED technology, classification, latest development trends, future development, and issues.
