Tailored especially for the European market, Hitachi Ltd.'s 42PD9700 42-inch plasma display panel (PDP) TV employs a newly developed 1080 Alternate Lighting of Surfaces (ALiS) panel with 1,024 x 1,080 pixels that features 1,080 vertical pixels, the same resolution as that of high-definition (HD) broadcasting. The TV also makes use of Picture Master HD, a new digital image processing technology. Furthermore, the TV employs a built-in terrestrial digital tuner to deliver high-quality HD images.
