With PRIMEQUEST, Fujitsu Meets Shifting Server Demand

In the market for mission-critical server systems, customers are increasingly favoring servers employing Intel architecture for tasks that were performed until recently only by proprietary mainframes and high-end UNIX systems (Fig. 1). Among the factors driving this trend is the desire among customers to save costs through ongoing standardization, rationalization and consolidation of computing infrastructures. Customers also want to reduce the number of commodity operating systems they use and thus trim administration costs. However, only hardware that fully meets the requirements of mission-critical computing can suitably accommodate this trend.
