Tougher PC Competition Seen as Acer Acquires Gateway

Considered as the fourth largest personal computer maker in the world, Acer Inc. of Taiwan has announced that it will acquire United States personal computer maker Gateway Inc., ranked third largest. The said transaction will be carried out through the purchase of public stocks, which reached about US$710 million and the complete buyout is expected to finish towards the end of FY2007.
