Around the world, the digital camera market has been expanding faster than earlier expected. Amid fierce competition among companies, manufacturers have sought profits by bringing out more products with high-value features and functions, by cutting costs, and by streamlining production systems.rnStrong sales of digital cameras contributed significantly to this year's business performance through June. Manufacturers are continuing to be aggressive in the latter half of the year.rnDigital camera manufacturers saw very positive business performances in the first half of 2007. "Digital cameras contributed significantly to our business performance in the first quarter," said an official of Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. (Panasonic). "Of electronic product categories, sales of digital cameras increased most sharply, and so did profits from digital cameras," said a Sony Corp. official.
