FlexRay Networks Heighten Cost, Safety Benefits in Vehicles

In growing numbers of vehicles around the world today, the person behind the wheel is far from alone in controlling the car. Increasingly, an astonishing assortment of sensors, CPUs and other kinds of semiconductors share the responsibility for everything from a smooth ride and efficient use of fuel to detection of impending mechanical failure within the vehicle. Performance of these tasks requires an exchange of information, and that, in turn, requires an in-vehicle network. Among the principal enabling technologies for these networks is FlexRay.
