With the diversification of music recording media, the competitive landscape for car audio-video (A/V) brands has been changing dramatically. Audio products that use built-in media, such as hard disc drives and memory cards, such as iPod music players, have become widespread. This has weakened the position of Japanese brands with strengths in audio products that use removable media, such as cassette tapes and CDs.
