Manufacturers See Signs of Recovery in High-End Audio

In recent years, the popularity of portable digital audio products has taken off, leading to slack sales of high-end audio products, surround sound products and related video products. However, according to the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA), shipments of Hi-Fi speakers and amplifiers have increased steadily in the last year or so and sales of audio products are showing signs of recovery. To invigorate the market for pure audio products, audio manufacturers both in Japan and outside Japan have been stepping up efforts to develop and market more advanced audio products, such as amplifiers and players (audio components), as well as speaker systems.
