Brisk Demand for Solar Power Bolsters Mitsubishi in EU

Household electronics are looking up at Mitsubishi Electric Corp. For the year that ended March 31, 2008, sale in the company's home electronics unit rose 8 percent from the previous year to slightly more than ￥1 trillion. Operating income surged 84 percent to ￥67.4 billion on a year-to-year basis. Both figures represented record highs for the company. Overseas operations for air conditioners and solar power-generation systems, particularly in the European markets, helped drive this strong performance.
