Ulvac's Film Capacitors Suit Hybrid Cars

Ulvac, Inc. has developed and introduced in the market a full-scale production line for high-voltage and space-saving film capacitors, which are presently in demand in new industrial fields, including hybrid cars and solar energy generation. One of the main features of the new system is the "multiple evaporation sources," which have high-frequency crucibles for vapor deposition of aluminum and zinc on each film. The innovations of element technologies have allowed improvements including decrease of pinholes, improved investment ef- fect, and efficiency due to increased deposition speed and length, as well as reduction of electricity costs and consumable materials. The innovations also made possible significant improvement on productivity and reduction of deposition process costs.
