TDK Corp. has released the GBDriver RS2 series of Serial ATA (SATA) II-compatible NAND flash memory controller ICs. The company expects the controller ICs will be applied in products such as digital home appliances, netbook personal computers, and industrial equipment. The sample price is ¥2,000 (US$22).rnTo support SATA II, the GBDriver RS2 series enables high-speed access with an effective speed of 95MB/sec, four times that of the previous product. It is compatible with both single-level cell (SLC) and multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash memories, also supporting the 2KB/page and 4KB/page structures. Furthermore, it can control up to 16 NAND memories and create high-speed SATA storage with a wide range of capacity from 128MB to 64GB.
