Demand has been increasing for better mobile phone and wireless local area network (LAN) access for people on board aircraft. Connection by Boeing (CBB), once used by airlines for in-cabin Internet service, was withdrawn from service in the end of 2006. Now, however, a European airline has started trial in-cabin use of mobile phones with a system involving satellites. Meanwhile, a trial test for in-cabin mobile phone service using a terrestrial UHF band system is being discussed in the United States.
