Sanyo Electric Expands HIT PV Cell Production Capacity

In order to boost its production capacity for heterojunction with intrinsic thin layer (HIT) solar cells, Sanyo Electric Co., Ltd. commenced the construction of a ¥6-billion (US$60 million) new factory building last February at its Nishikinohama Plant in Kaizuka City, Osaka Prefecture in Japan. The plant serves as the company's production base for HIT solar cells.rnThe company expects the completion of the three-story factory building in October, which will have a total floor area of 18,000sq.m.
