Sharp's New Blu-ray Recorders, Discs Support BDXL Format

Sharp Corporation started in July the sales of two Blu-ray Disc (BD) recorders, the BD-HDW700 and the BD-HDW70, as well as the VR-100BR1 triple-layer BDs, which are among the world's first to support the new BDXL format, a BD recordable specification. The BDXL format is a new specification defined by the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) and expands the recordable storage capacity of BDs to triple-layer discs to 100GB, and quadruple-layer discs to 128GB, from the conventional dual-layer discs of 50GB.
