Much of the attention that fuel cells are now receiving is related to their potential in powering electric vehicles. Electric vehicles powered by fuel cells do not emit carbon dioxide. Also, vehicles powered by fuel cells in combination with secondary batteries are expected to deliver higher energy efficiency than gasoline-and diesel-based cars. In addition, fuel cell-powered vehicles, by providing excellent acceleration performance without a multi-stage gear, can be especially fun to drive.
