Core Technologies Enhance Sharp's 3D TV Lineup

The Quattron 3D technology of Sharp Corporation enables high-resolution brightness and insignificant occurrences of crosstalk, a phenomenon where the images for the left eye and the right eye overlap. The Quattron 3D technology is employed in the company's high-end models of the AQUOS LCD TV Series. AQUOS Quattron 3D displays separate images intended for the left eye and right eye alternately and adopts the active shutter system using special glasses synchronized with those images. The system previously had issues including low brightness, crosstalk occurrence, and reduction in image vividness for 3D display. Sharp was able to solve these issues by combining its four unique LCD technologies, namely, the 4-color technology, the newly-developed Frame Rate Enhanced Driving (FRED) technology, and the side-mount scanning LED backlight technology based on the core technology of liquid crystal panels for TVs called UV2A, which is the fourth technology as well to be employed.
