The table of contents published in JELIS 53:4 was incorrect. The articles identified as "ALISE 2012 Best Conference Papers" were actually the "Teaching and Learning in iSchools" papers and vice versa. A corrected table of contents for JELIS 53:4 follows this introduction to JELIS 54:1. This issue allows us to show the variety of article types as well as the breadth of article content that can be found in JELIS. It includes one Review Article, one report of Research in Progress, and four Research Articles. In the Review Article, Scout Calvert analyzes the theme of the 2011 ALISE Conference ("Competitiveness and Innovation") via a review of the literature in social psychology and science and technology studies, bringing to bear a keen and thoughtful analysis of the literature and developing implications for LIS education.
