摘要

Most economists are not aware that their participation in markets and policy circles has come to be a subject for analysis by anthropologists, sociologists, and historians of science. The goal of most of these studies is to try and understand the role of economic theorizing in the actual creation of markets and policies. Scholars use the term "performativity," which has its origins in philosophy, to describe the process by which an actor uses some aspect of their knowledge to try and guide their actions in a prticular situation.
