(Cecil Beaton, The Glass of Fashion, pp. 175-6)This attractively produced work by Philip Wilson Publishers is about the confluence of taste makers, patrons and artistic coteries who circulated around the iconic mid-twentieth century interior and furniture designer Jean-Michel Frank. Frank is the stuff of legend, possibly 'le plus chic' designer of the first half of the twentieth century, connected to the transatlantic elites, able to design for patrons as demanding as the Rockefellers and escaping Nazi persecution (his cousin was the equally 'famous' Anne Frank), before killing himself at a very early age.
