Thank you for allowing me the privilege of sharing the podium with our honorary chair- man, Arne Carlson, to address our distin- guished guests and members of ASCE. I intend to use this opportunity to entice the audience to follow the progression of this section of Con- struction Congress V and attend all of its ses- sions. There should be no doubt in any of our minds that our industry, responsible for a lion's share of the U. S. 's gross domestic and inter- national product, is unique.
