In its May/June 1997 issue, JME published a feature article entitled "Professional Practice Survey." Designed to gauge the changing mar- Ket and how liability concerns affect the way Civil engineers practice, the survey was mailed To management of the top 500 Engineering Firms as ranked by Engineering News-Record. Of the 500 surveys, 15 could not be delivered Because of address changes. Of those surveys That reached their destination, 18/100 were com- Pleted and reached, a truly remarkable return Rate considering that the survey contained 37 Questions, many of which took significant time To research and complete.
