Resources for Ongoing Professional Development

Young engineers face four challenges as they move out of school and into the workplace. The first is turning a collegiate education into pro- fessional practice, a hurdle usually passed through internships or mentoring from expe- rienced engineers. The second is developing career skills, such as ability to communicate and manage, to supplement technical knowl- edge. The third challenge is keeping abreast of developments in engineering, and the fourth is maintaining skills at a functional level.
