AN EMPIRICAL STUDY OF END-USER COMPUTING ACCEPTANCE FACTORS IN SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES IN TAIWAN: ANALYZED BY STRUCTURAL EQUATION MODELING

This paper investigates end user computing acceptance and influence factors. A survey was performed with small and medium enterprises in Taiwan. The theoretical grounding for this research comes from the work of Igbaria, et al., (6) adapted from the technology acceptance model (TAM). We found (1) high computer usage in Taiwan's small and medium enterprises, but mostly for routine work, (2) only management support and perceived ease of use directly affected perceived usefulness and only perceived usefulness directly affected system usage. These findings were inconsistent with Igbaria, et al. (7). Updated models are proposed based on these research findings, the cultural factors peculiar to Taiwan and the IT introduction stage proposed by Scarborough and Zimmerer (16).
