摘要

The articles in this volume develop new techniques or improve on existing methods, while advancing the state-of-the-art in their target computation area. A list of the papers is given in Section 'References' [1-10]. Algorithms and strategies to enhance performance are presented. Some implementations utilize tools for high-precision arithmetic; on the other hand, trade-offs of extended precision techniques are investigated with respect to accuracy and efficiency. At the memory level, performance impacts can result according to the loop structures in the code. Methods oriented towards large-scale problems may be candidates for parallelization, where it is further aimed to gain efficiency from the parallel or distributed architecture, its memory structure, the presence of multi- or many-core nodes, etc. For various applications of interest in computer and computational science, models are developed for the underlying problem and extensive simulation results are given.
