This paper proposes some new wavenumber-extended high-or- der upwind-biased schemes. The dispersion and dissipation errors of upwind-biased finite-difference schemes are assessed and com- pared by means of a Fourier analysis of the difference schemes. Up to 11th-order upwind-biased schemes are analyzed. It is shown That both the upwind-biased scheme of order 2N -1 and the corre- Sponding centered differencing scheme of order 2N have the same Dispersion characteristics; thus the former can be considered to be The latter plus a correction the reduces the numerical dissipation.
