Influence of Multitrace Propagation on Antenna Characteristics

Results of the experimental and theoretical study of the VHF wave propagation along closed near surface paths with transverse surface irregularities are presented. In the shadow zone of irregular obstacles, dis- tortions of directional patterns are observed that are caused by multitrace propagation. It is demonstrated that when the spatial-temporal structure of the VHF field is calculated, the characteristics of antennas should be taken into account jointly with characteristics of transverse irregularities.
