An approximate dispersion equation for a slow wave is obtained in a composite spiral line consisting of a spiral surrounded by a screen with a capacitive conductance in the azimuthal direction. The dispersion characteristics of a slow-wave system (SS) are calculated at different values of the lumped capacitance. It is shown that the application of an azimuthally conducting screen with capacitive gaps broadens the amplification band of a traveling-wave tube (TWT) without reducing the efficiency of interaction of an electron flow with a wave in the longitudinal direction.
