Since the early 2000s, the bilateral relationship between the People's Republic of China (PRC) and the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) has become a field of great interest in international relations. From the political science point of view, the still dominant realists' paradigm suggests that these relationships are described and analyzed mainly from a state-to-state perspective.
