摘要

This edited volume analyzes both China's compliance with its World Trade Organization obligations and its participation in making new multilateral trade rules and norms over China's more than a decade-long membership. The picture that emerges from this analysis is nuanced. On the one hand, China has made great efforts to accommodate itself to the WTO system, but on the other, it has sometimes fallen short of living up to WTO rules or accession protocol provisions. It has also sent mixed signals in the making of new trade rules, keeping a relatively low profile in the Doha Round trade talks but flexing its muscles in various committees, councils, and in the dispute settlement mechanism.
