Franoise Mengin, Fragments of an Unfinished War. Taiwanese Entrepreneurs and the Partition of China

Mengin's book is an English translation of a book originally published in French in 2013 and completed in September 2012, and the author tells us in the Preface to the English Edition that she chose not to update the translation for several reasons. The book shifts from high levels of generality to very detailed narratives. The writing can be quite dense and the organization is quirky. How different themes tie together is not always clear. Much of this book may have been quite new in the French-language literature, but certain aspects have already been well-covered in the English-language literature.
