In this book, the author tries to provide an introductory grounding in the main concepts, ideas, and techniques of probability theory. A main thesis of the book is that quite a lot of ground can be covered just by an appreciation of the structure of the sample space and through an appropriate characterisation of the probability measure, without having to delve into the intricacies of sigma-algebras. To achieve this, the author devotes the first half of the book to discussion of countable sample spaces only.
