Temperature Dependence of Microwave Permeabilities for Polycrystalline Ferrite and Garnet Materials

Measurements of the microwave permeabilities μ‖ and μ⊥ = (μ2-K2)/μ have been made at a frequency of about 9200 Mc using a cavity perturbation technique. Samples in the form of thin slabs were used. Both the static magnetic field and the temperature were varied. The temperature ranged from 25°C to 150°C and the internal magnetic fields were varied from zero to 1500 oersteds. A general qualitative agreement between theory and experiment is obtained for one of the ferrite materials. Both μ⊥ and μ‖ were found to increase with increasing temperature for the range measured.
