Measurement of Viscoelastic Properties of Evaporated Se Films

Viscoelastic properties of evaporated Se films were investigated at several temperatures between 25° and 40°C by measuring the relaxation of thermally applied stresses. The very large changes in the relaxation times of the stresses in this small temperature range were analyzed in terms of viscosity of the films. Values for the Young''s modulus and viscosity were obtained for ∼4 μ Se films. Agreement was found in the temperature dependence of the viscosity of the films and bulk vitreous Se in this temperature range.
