The contribution to Faraday rotation in artificial dielectrics, arising due to complex nature of the permittivity of the semiconductor particles embedded in an artificial dielectric, is estimated theoretically on the basis of Lewin's expressions of permeability and permittivity for artificial dielectrics. On the basis of the above analysis the contribution to rotation is found to be appreciable, whereas Nag and Engineer and other previous workers considered it to be negligibly small.
