Optical second harmonic generation in Ba2NaNb5O15: Simultaneous presence of growth inhomogeneities and self‐induced thermal effects

We have theoretically investigated the effects due to the simultaneous presence of growth inhomogeneities (stratification/striae) and thermally induced inhomogeneities on optical second harmonic generation (SHG) in Ba2NaNb5O15 at low conversion efficiencies. The main result is the prediction of a double‐humped SHG‐vs‐temperature curve due to the combined influence stratification and thermal effects.
