Boundary control and stabilization of Kirchhoff and von Karman plates

Mathematical techniques which have been developed during the study of control problems are not only interesting because of their applications, but they often can be linked to other mathematically fascinating properties of the equations. Our focus will be on the questions of boundary control and stabilization. We will give an overview of the various types of problems which we have considered, such as linear and nonlinear plate equations, and the techniques and properties involved in proving controllability, including microlocal analysis, compactness/uniqueness arguments and local smoothing properties.
