Method for Reference Standard for Total Package Oxygen

A method for the measurement and calculation of total package oxygen (TPO) has been evaluated in a collaborative study. 1. The laboratory precision of the measurement ranged between 5.9 to 19.1% relative standard deviation (RSD) and was judged acceptable when the concentration of dissolved oxygen measured approximately 20 ppb. 2. Statistical differences existed between laboratories at the 95% confidence level based on comparison of the laboratory means by analysis of variance (ANOVA) statistics. 3. The sources of between-laboratory differences are most likely varied analysis temperatures and differences in oxygen solubility settings on different model instruments.
