In conclusion, we provide here precise values of J_ferric_ferric for 1t and 2. These are the first directly determined J-values for [Fe_2(μ_3-S)_2]~2+ fragments incorporated in a cubane-type cluster, and are relevant to J_ferric_ferric values in protein-bound cuboidal [Fe_3S_4]~1+ and cubane-type [Fe_4S_4]~3+ clusters.
