In conclusion, on the basis of couplings of a readily available organometallic linchpin (1), all-E oxotetra-and oxopentaenes that are characteristic fragments of various natural products can be rapidly assembled. Additional refinements, further applica- tions, and second generation linchpins are under study and will be reported shortly.
