KVH launches 10/100 Gbit/s backhaul service at Shima cable landing station in Japan

Tokyo-based KVH, operator of an extensive information delivery platform in Asia, has announced a new backhaul service in Japan that connects the Shima cable landing station (CLS) in Shima City, Mie prefecture, with Tokyo and Osaka through its Ethernet backbone network. The new backhaul service, which will be commercially available from mid-December, will be offered in 10 Gbit/s and 100 Gbit/s speeds and augments KVH's existing portfolio of backhaul services linking the Chikura CLS and Toyohashi CLS. In addition, utilizing the company's extensive domestic network, customers can also extend these backhaul links to connect more than 60 major PoPs and data centers across Japan.
