Northrop Grumman to build BQM-74E targets

The US Navy (USN) has awarded Northrop Grumman a USD49 million modification to a previously awarded contract to cover the production of a further batch of 160 BQM-74E subsonic jet-powered aerial targets, writes Doug Richardson.rnDeliveries are to be completed by May 2011. Since 1968, the MQM/BQM-74 series of targets has been used for more than 80 per cent of the target presentations required by the USN.rnSuitable for launch from land sites or shipboard launch during open ocean operations, these targets can simulate enemy aircraft and cruise missiles.
