Seagull USV gains new COLREGS-compliant vision and analysis capability

Israel's Elbit Systems has introduced a new situational awareness and automatic target recognition (ATR) capability to improve the ability of its Seagull unmanned surface vehicle (USV) to navigate autonomously in crowded and congested maritime environments. In service with the Israeli Navy since 2017, and also ordered for an international customer, Seagull is a modular 12 m multimission USV developed by Elbit Systems for operation from either a mothership or shore station (two craft can be controlled concurrently from the same mission control system). Designed for a mission endurance in excess of 96 hours, it marries a highly autonomous core command-and-control/situational awareness suite with modular pay-load packages tailored to specific missions including mine counter-measures, anti-submarine warfare, hydrography, electronic warfare, and maritime security.
