In the 78-year history of ITE, the 2008 Annual Meeting and Exhibit in Anaheim, CA, USA, will be only the third one held in southern California. Previous meetings were held in 1969 and 1951 in Los Angeles, CA. This time, the spotlight is on Anaheim with Los Angeles playing a supporting role. This feature highlights the history oftransportation and the legacy of the transportation engineering profession in southern California. A future feature will focus on the current transportation system.
