Pedestrian Treatment at Signalized Intersections

The objective of ITE Committee 4A-35 was to develop practical principles and guidelines for safe effective treatment of pedestrians at signalized intersections for a variety of commonly encountered physical and operational situations. More specifically, the committee's goal was to identify areas of latitude in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways (MUTCD) and describe principles that can be extrapolated easily for the proper treatment of pedestrians in other situations.
